Travel North is the solo songwriting project of Jimmy Yang, an independent singer-songwriter and working family man, who has long written about his personal experiences and recollections living in big cities and traveling in beautiful and expansive rural and northern Canada. 

 

His upcoming album is the culmination of a personal period of songwriting and collaboration with Stephen McPhail (Melody Man Studios) on bringing these stories of life into song. Jimmy also had the opportunity to work with Bellingham, Washington native and singer Abby Chase on two upcoming tracks, ‘Montpellier’ and ‘Hometown Reunion’.

 

Born in Montreal, raised in Ottawa, and a long time resident of Toronto, Jimmy’s musical upbringing comes from fortunate relationships with talented artists and musicians in his family and amongst friends he has met in his life. He’s a working dad, devoted to his family and friends and, what started out as a personal songwriting project, has now led to his first independent Canadian musical release.
